FaceBook Announces Mashup Creator

So, today Facebook is announcing their new Facebook platform.

It seems like everybody is getting into the "let's open up our application to develop new mashup applications". First it was SalesForce and their App Exchange and Apex products - then Yahoo and Yahoo Pipes. Microsoft also recently announced a new mashup creator called popfly.

And now Facebook has announced something similar. If anything tells me that Facebook is going to eat MySpace's lunch, this is it.

So a number of third party applications are also being announced including some from Microsoft and Amazon. The coolest I've seen so far is a music application called fliptrack. On fliptrack, you can upload photos, import them from Flickr or mySpace and automatically create a music video from their music library.

Developers can use Facebook to develop custom applications - and then you can even serve up your own advertisements or even conduct transactions.

This is definitely worth watching.
